Four Student Teams Reach CSBS Data Analytics Competition Finals
CSBS today announced student teams from the following four universities have advanced to the final round of the 2023 CSBS Data Analytics Competition:
- Carnegie Mellon University
- Georgetown University
- Kennesaw State University
- William & Mary
In the third year of the CSBS Data Analytics Competition, student teams developed data analytics models that examined the potential impact on community banks (earnings, deposits, asset quality, etc.) from the recent rapidly rising interest rate environment. The four top teams will make final presentations on May 4 and receive monetary prizes up to $5,000.
The Data Analytics Competition is an opportunity offered by CSBS, giving undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to conduct a rigorous economic research project to better understand community banking and regulation through a pre-defined, comprehensive data analytics project. Students derive data-driven insights to help policymakers, regulators, scholars and others understand the role that community banks have in the U.S. economy, and, at the same time, develop skills in data science, finance, economics, accounting and communications.
